Hard Water Impacts
5th Jul 2021
Hard water can cause a multitude of issues throughout your commercial space by leaving water spots that are difficult to clean and eroding surfaces over time. Hard water also causes excess minerals to build up and solidify in the tank of your American Standard d100-199
commercial water heater unit. This solidification creates a barrier between the heater itself and the tank making the water much harder to heat. Additional hard water issues with your commercial water heater are outlined below:
- Reduced Efficiency: Minerals such as magnesium and calcium build up in hard water over time and will dramatically reduce the efficiency of your water heater. This build up will cause the device to have to work harder and can cause a spike in your water heater bill.
- Shorter Lifespan: As mentioned above your commercial water heater will be forced to work at a greater capacity regularly putting extra strain and stress on the device. This leads to the need for frequent repairs and maintenance that would otherwise not be necessary.
- Frequent Flushing: Standard water heater devices should be flushed yearly. However, a water heater with significant hard water build up may need more regular flushing adding to the difficulty to maintain your water heater.
As you can see hard water can wreak havoc on your commercial water heater such as an American Standard d100-199. Luckily there are solutions. Installing water softeners are a potential solution as they help diffuse the build up of minerals and can eliminate most if not all hard water issues.
